Beer, Wine, & Cider

Beer and wine are some of the most frustrating foods to avoid soy in. Since they are alcoholic, beer, wine, and cider are regulated differently than food and are not required to display a list of ingredients. That's right - they don't need to tell you what they contain. At first glance this shouldn't be a problem since the ingredients in beer and wine are pretty straight forward, but Ashley has exhibited soy intolerance symptoms after having a beer.

Bread

What goes in bread? If you try to list the ingredients in a loaf of sandwich bread, soy probably doesn't make the list: flour, salt, and yeast, but certainly not soy. That is what we thought as well, until we started reading ingredient labels. As it turns out, soy flour (and even sometimes soybean oil) are fairly common in bread.

Pizza

Ah, Pizza. Ashley and I both love pizza. We have a standing rule in our house that if dinner gets messed up (burned, etc) we order pizza. But, unfortunately not all pizza is soy-free.
