Soy-Free at Shake Shack

Hello! Welcome to Beyond Soy!

What is there to eat at Shake Shack that is soy-free? When we ask that question we want two things: clear information so we can make a decision about the particular food or restaurant and a decent selection of foods that are soy-free.

Shake Shack provides great information, but the short answer is that the soy-free options at Shake Shack are quite limited. Many of their menu items contain soy and they use 100% soybean oil as a cooking oil. This is not ideal and as a result we typically end up choosing not to eat there. There are a few items that seem to be okay, so if you take your time you can find a soy-free meal at Shake Shack.

However, the Shake Shack allergen information is excellent! Their website is very easy to use and provides a wealth of information. It is very easy to identify that they use soybean oil and they also identify the foods that you can eat while avoiding selected allergens. In a world of often only seeing the foods to avoid, this is a refreshing change of pace. While the results aren’t great and many menu items contain soy, we love the simplicity and straightforwardness of their system.
