Soy-Free Banana Bread

Hello! Welcome to Beyond Soy!

We love to buy bananas, but can never seem to eat all of them before they go soft. Instead of rushing to eat them quickly, we use the soft bananas to make banana bread! Banana bread is a great soy-free treat because the ingredients are basic and the recipe is simple. Basic ingredients and simple instructions mean there is less chance for including soy.

In fact, aside from checking that no margarine was used (and that there are no chocolate chips), homemade banana bread is almost guaranteed to be soy-free. Almost all recipes call for soy-free ingredients. We still recommend that you ask about the ingredients, but it can help to know that there is likely no soy.

Here is our favorite recipe for soy-free banana bread:

What you’ll need:

  • 3 soft bananas
  • 1/3 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1.5 cups flour

What to do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F
  2. Mash the bananas until smooth
  3. Mix the bananas, butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and baking soda in a bowl
  4. Add the flour
  5. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan
  6. Bake for 1 hour (until toothpick comes out clean)
