The 5 Best Dips and Snacks for your 4th of July BBQ —Part 1
/Hello! Welcome to Beyond Soy!
The 4th of July is just around the corner, which means it’s time for a BBQ! There is no better way to beat the hot weather than with an array of snacks and a cold drink. While not all BBQ food is soy-free, the food doesn’t have to be limiting! Whether you are hosting or just enjoying, here are the 5 best soy-free dips and snacks for your 4th of July BBQ.
Part 2 will post next week!
French Onion Dip
This might be my favorite BBQ snack of all time. It is so easy to make and combines two of my favorite things: sour cream and potato chips. Since potato chips are frequently soy-free, this dip is a great dish to have on hand or bring to a party. One word of caution: don’t make this dip from a packet mix because they usually contain soy. Instead, make it by hand—it’s super easy!
What You’ll Need
1 cup sour cream
1 tbsp. dried chopped onion
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. parsley flakes
What To Do
Mix all ingredients together
Taste, adjust as necessary
Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving
Five Layer Mexican Dip
This dip speaks for itself as a delicious combination of flavors. Just like French onion dip, this is a great soy-free option because tortilla chips are nearly always soy-free. As a result, this snack is not only a crowd-pleaser, but also a mainstream soy-free option.
What You’ll Need
1 1/2 cups refried beans
1 3/4 cups guacamole
1 1/2 cups sour cream
8 oz shredded cheese
2 tomatoes, diced
What To Do
Heat the refried beans until soft
Spread beans on the bottom of the serving dish
Cover with layers of guacamole, then sour cream, then cheese
Top with tomatoes
Popcorn
We love popcorn as an easy-to-make snack for any occasion, but it’s also easy to jazz up to be a real showstopper. Try using parmesan and garlic to create a snack that people won’t be able to stay away from.
What You’ll Need
1 bag popcorn (use unsalted, or lightly salted… don’t use anything with butter!)
2 tbsp. shredded parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder
Pinch of salt
What To Do
Pop the popcorn in the microwave
Empty popcorn into a bowl and toss with seasonings
Taste, adjust as desired
